Emergency Auto Transport

Emergency vehicle transport when the deadline was not chosen. What we need minimally, arranging a move when you cannot be present, and what is realistically achievable.
Car Motorcycle

Emergency transport is expedited service applied to a situation where the deadline was not chosen. Illness, bereavement, an evacuation, sudden military orders, or a relocation that had to happen yesterday.

Operationally it uses the same mechanism as any rush booking: paying carriers to prioritise your vehicle. What differs is context. People arranging emergency transport are usually dealing with something else at the same time, often have less information to hand, and are frequently working across time zones or from somewhere other than where the vehicle is.

This page covers what we need in those circumstances, what is realistically achievable, and how to arrange a move when you cannot be present.

What We Need, Minimally

In an emergency, the shortest path to a dispatched carrier is this:

  • Where the vehicle is. A full address, and any access constraint you know of.
  • Where it needs to go. Same detail, plus who will receive it.
  • Whether it runs. And whether keys are available. These determine the equipment.
  • Your deadline and what it is tied to.
  • Who can release it at the origin, if not you.

That is enough to start. Details like exact model year, colour, or preferred trailer type can follow. The common mistake under pressure is waiting until everything is assembled before making contact, which costs hours that would otherwise have gone into finding a carrier.

Arranging Transport When You Cannot Be There

This is the situation that most distinguishes emergency bookings, and it is entirely workable.

Someone else can release the vehicle. They need to be able to walk it with the driver and sign the condition report. Give their name and contact details at booking.

Someone else can receive it. Same requirement at the other end, and they should know to inspect against the pickup report and note anything new before signing.

Photographs help enormously. If anyone can photograph the vehicle before collection, all sides and any existing damage, it protects you when you are not present to see it loaded.

Keys can be arranged locally. A neighbour, a family member, a property manager, or a workshop can hold them for the driver.

Access can be described by someone on site. A quick description of the street and where a transporter can stop saves a failed appointment.

You do not need to be present for either end of the move. You do need someone who can be.

What Is Realistically Achievable

Fast pickup, usually. On a reasonable corridor with a running vehicle, collection within a day or two is a realistic target.

Transit is unchanged. Distance and legal driving hours govern it. An emergency does not shorten the drive, and a long-distance move still takes the time it takes.

Non-runners take longer. Winch-capable carriers are a subset, and in an emergency this is the constraint most likely to add a day.

Remote origins are harder. Carrier presence is the limit, and urgency does not create it.

We will tell you if a date cannot be met. That matters more in an emergency than anywhere else, because you may have decisions to make that depend on the answer. A booking accepted against an impossible date helps nobody.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you collect in an emergency?
Often within a day or two on a well-served corridor with a running, accessible vehicle. Remote locations and non-running vehicles extend it.

Can you arrange everything if I am not there?
Yes, provided someone at each end can release and receive the vehicle. They do not need to be the owner.

What if I do not have all the details?
Start with the origin, destination, whether it runs, and your deadline. The rest can follow once a carrier is being sought.

Can you deliver somewhere other than a home address?
Yes, and in an emergency a commercial address, a workshop, or a storage facility is frequently easier, because they are staffed and accessible.

What if the vehicle will not start?
It needs winch-capable equipment. Tell us at the outset so the right carrier is sought rather than one who arrives unable to load.

Why Ship With Tempus Logix

Tempus Logix is a licensed and bonded auto transport broker, USDOT #3117533 and MC #86120, and BBB accredited. Every carrier we assign is vetted and its insurance verified before a vehicle is collected, and vehicle owners carry a zero deductible on covered damage.

Time-critical work asks for things standard shipping does not. We dispatch against your actual deadline rather than a routing convenience, confirm carrier position before committing to a window, and tell you plainly when a date is not achievable rather than accepting the booking and missing it.
